Wordless Wednesday--WTH?

Pb_package1

Ok, I can't go without saying something about this...Have you seen this item at the local marketplace? I haven't seen it around here yet.

What is it? They are peanut butter slices--think American cheese slices, except peanut butter instead of cheese.

It is a bit interesting...will have to see if I can get a packet to try them out. Wonderboy loves to make us PB&J sandwiches for lunch (he likes to make me dinner ;) ), it would make his job a little easier and less cleaning afterwards (always a big plus around here). Only one problem though, we like our PB chunky/crunchy...wonder if they have the slices in chunky/crunchy style. Interesting new product for sure, I would have never thought about it--I mean, it is not rocket science spreading PB on a piece of bread but this makes the process a bit easier. But there is no spoon-licking satisfaction at the end. We'll have to see...can't rule it out, have to try it first ;).

Would you try PB slices?
Yeah, give them a shot
Nah, I like to spread my PB

That's...not...natural.

Haha, this makes me laugh so hard! It's funny because my older sister and I had the same idea when we were in college like 5 years ago... then we found out it was already patented. We were so disappointed!

We thought it would be cool too to have slices that already had jelly swirled in, no work involved at all to make a PB&J sandwich :)

I read about these. I don't think they come in crunchy yet. As for Wonderboy, you should let him spread the peanut butter. My boys want to help me "cook" all the time, and I think the process is what's in it for them, not the end product. You take away all his fun making him use a "slice" of peanut butter (yeah, THAT sounds natural...). Kind of like saying you can knit, but you have to sew pre-made squares together instead of starting with yarn! :)

How lazy are people?!

Although, yes, I can see how it would be helpful for kids, but jeez...

These actually might be handy for picnics or camping but I probably wouldn't use them on a regular basis. I'm guessing the peanut butter slices have a different texture than peanut butter from a jar as well. Kind of like processed cheese slices are not the same as cheese sliced from a block. An interesting concept though.

That sure seems like a silly idea, but then again, I suppose that sliced cheese seemed like a silly idea, too and I use it all the time. Like Jenny said, though, I would worry about the texture of it all and one of the best things about peanut butter is it's texture!

Gross. How much extra processing did that peanut butter have to go through, and how many extra chemicals were used?

Do Wonderboy a favor. Take him to a health food store, or a regular grocery store that has a machine, and let him push the button on the peanut grinder and watch real fresh peanut butter emerge. (Or buy a bunch of peanuts if you can find them cheap enough; put them in a food processor with a little bit of oil, and let him push the button after the safety lid's been put in place). If he's used to the Jiffy type, you can even stir a teeny bit of sugar or honey in to sweeten it up a bit.

The very idea freaks me right out!

I haven't seen it but I don't believe I would purchase it. "Slices" of peanut butter?

That is one weird food product!
