Repeat after me...I love them, I love them

Tv

I really, really, really love them. They are more important than my Christmas present, they are definitely more important than my new TV. But, why, why? Why, oh why did they had to break it!! I do love them, I do, I do. They are the cutest, most adorable tykes in the world. At this moment, I am fuming! I sure love them. It is not their fault. They are little and do not understand that only 1 DVD goes in not 2 or 3. I love them. I do love them. I will hug them instead of going all nuts about it.

I just arrived from the gym, my adrenaline is going, hubby just announced to me that the kiddos broke my TV. I do love them. I do. I do. The only thing that I could do to calm my nerves is to go downstairs and just chill...and thus this post came about. I do love them. They are more important than the TV. 20 years from now, the TV won't mattered but they will. I do love them. But I am hurt, I am hurt because they like to play with my "toys" and usually break them. Why can't they play with their toys? I do love them. Repeat after me: I love them. I will hug them and kiss them and let them know I love them.

Currently, crossing my fingers that hubby can fix it. Please.

**Latest update: Hubby couldn't fix it. He opened the back up but then the DVD section was all sealed with different tapes and he thought it was best to leave the tape intact in case it voided the warranty. I was so bombed out that I stood in front of the TV for awhile and kept pressing the "eject" button over and over, after awhile, the dvd player started making some noises like a wild animal on its last moments, then I got mad and hit it on the back and pressed "eject" again and it spitted its contents out! I couldn't believe it! I haven't tried to put another DVD in there for fear that it will get stuck but for now at least there is nothing stuck inside of it.

BTW: I sure love my little tykes! They keep me on my toes.

Oh no! So sorry! Oh and . . .

Don't forget you love them!

You LOVE them! It'll all be ok. Go sniff you favorite sock yarn. It'll be ok.

Aw, yes you do love them. I know how you feel. Little Bean knocked my video camera off the counter back in June and broke it. The day of his last t-ball game of the season. I was so upset. But, I kept cool. I didn't want to ruin his last game day (that I was not going to get to film). Deep breaths. They are precious sweet babies and you're right, 20 years from now the TV won't matter. You're a great mom!

Just keep repeating that! I Love Them!
Keep chanting until the pain has subsided:( So sorry to hear --I am sure its going to hurt for a bit.

breathe...remember the love. hubby will do his best and the kids will learn...

oooh if it is only a couple of dvd's stuck in the player you should be able to fix it no problem.. we have had that happen.. now then there was the time Azia was trying to be helpful and clean the tv screen.. she sprayed it with some water and.. bzzzt lights out! hehehhe
You love her right?? heheheh

Of course you love them! Even when you're angry (happens here too). It's how you handle the anger that's important. Walking away to chill out is good.

And I hate to tell you but you'll be angry at them again...sometime, someday....human nature, ya know?

I have a friend who's son tried to feed the VCR (it's been a long time ago) a peanut butter sandwich. hehe

I am so sorry.

You love them and, when they are older, you can guilt them into buying you a huge tv. ;^)

Now you've officially joined the motherhood club, LOL! About a year ago, my 4 (well, almost 5) year son decided to take the card (looks like a credit card) out of our satellite TV TIVO box, and "cook" it in the microwave! I heard the microwave timer beap, smelled something burning, and pulled out the melted card! Needless to say, my husband wasn't too happy when he got home! Did I also mention the time my son scratched up the top of my wood coffee table, and drew all over his bedroom wall with hard-to-remove ball point pen ink? He also scratched up my computer monitor's screen with a sharp pencil. Or the time when my daughter was about 2, and used a wood-handled hairbrush to whack the head of a zebra statue I had, until the head caved in? I know it stinks that your TV is broken. I think it must be some kind of law of nature that little kids must wreck valuable household objects!

You can love them and be downright disappointed, upset and just plain mad. Happens
Break one of their toys! (just kidding) Though it is a good time to teach them a lesson about touching things that are for adults only and not for kid hands.

But, see, they did it so you wouldn't have the conflict that's coming up in a few weeks. They knew you wouldn't be able to choose between Lost and the new Smallville episodes both starting at the same time on Thursdays.... so they broke the TV so you wouldn't have to.

See, they love da mama.

My nephew cracked the screen on my brother's new tv with his head (he has autism). We've been searching the entire house for my gameboy advance (yes, I said 'my, but I don't get to use it much) trying to figure out where my absent minded 9 year old stuck it. Finally found it after a week of hard looking - under a matress! Sigh... And all the dents in the walls, and - we'll you get the picture. But in spite of all the broken or lost or damaged things, I was feeling really thankful for them on the way home from the schools this morning. So, here's a big hug for you and I hope your tv can be fixed. Have a great day!

Isela,

This is not related to your post, but I thought about you when I read this article on www.thehookandi.com. Scroll down and read the second post from the top. It's about the work crochet/knit designers do - very interesting and eye-opening.

Oh dear. Been there, done that. Deep breaths, and hugging the kids helps, as does knitting a few stitches.

Well, join the club. We had a similar incident with our VCR (before the days of DVD). What was funny is that there was a commercial on TV running at that time where a kid puts oatmeal into the VCR slot. Perhaps my kid saw that commercial, and thought he would experiment a little.

Well, I was upset when it happened, but I got over it, and now I laugh about it.

Just love those babies, and don't sweat the small stuff, because they grow up SO fast!

Fresh from Hawaii Aloha Huggz!

Or like the time our friend's kids proudly announced that they fixed the VCR -- they had carefully stuffed all of their little plastic workbench tools into the tape opening!

Hey! I got cool stuff in the mail from you Saturday! Thank you so much!

You can always pick up a cheap dvd player. I've bought 3 for the church. The kids always play with machinery there. It only cost me $19. Watch the stores, they run them often. The most I'll pay is $25. I bought my mom an expensive one with both VHS and DVD since she broke her VHS finally and it was only $79. She still acts like I spent so much. She thinks they still cost hundreds of dollars. We even bought her a wonderful new HDTV for under $400. Just bargain shop for a while, don't get in a big hurry. When the kids can't watch their shows for a while they will understand not to break things so quickly. Life with out TV is valuable reading time.Quiet for a while also.Just pull out the books and tell them no DVD's for a while.Smile and hug them often :o)

This post makes me want to cry for you! Gavin hasn't broken anything major yet, (except for covering the computer monitor with permanent marker) but it's soooooo frustrating to feel like we can't have nice things until he goes to college because they'll probably get destroyed. Hope your TV is ok!
